What is this blog about?

In this week’s blog, we take a look at the new RICS Disability Inclusion Framework. This is essential reading for RICS APC and AssocRICS candidates, as well as qualified surveyors.

You can read the full Framework here.

What’s new?

RICS Disability Inclusion Framework provides a framework and structure for disability inclusion within RICS, both as an organisation and as a professional body, based on the RICS DEI Strategy 2024/2025.

What are the four objectives of RICS?

RICS confirm four objectives, to:

  • ‘Improve accessibility by removing barriers and ensuring individuals with disabilities are better able to succeed in our organisation

  • Foster an inclusive culture by improving understanding of disability inclusion and reasonable adjustments

  • Enhance recruitment and retention of individuals with disabilities, and

  • Become an inclusive employer and professional body with an environment that is inclusive and accessible for all’.

What are the four pillars of success?

RICS confirm four pillars of success, which will support the achievement of the four objectives discussed above:

You can read the external Reasonable Adjustments policy here and about Health Adjustment Passports here. How might either or both of these affect how you interact with RICS?

If you are a manager or have management responsibilities, then we recommend reading about what RICS are doing internally – and how you could incorporate some of these actions and changes into your organisation.
